Zealot Tips & Tactics

  • The Zealot can only attack ground units.

  • Zealots can take a punch and deal out good damage, but they are expensive to produce when compared to other races.

  • Zealots can be easily kited by a craft player, so use caution.

  • Research Charge as soon as possible.

  • Use a Warp Gate to to spawn Zealots at a strategic location.

  • Protect Zealots from ranged-attacks by using the Guardian Shield of a Sentry.

Zealot Strengths & Weaknesses

  • Powerful Against: Marauder, Zergling, Immortal

  • Weakest Against: Hellion, Roach, Colossus

Race Strategies Versus Zealot

Terran

  • Reapers are excellent to use against Zealots because of their speed and high damage.

  • Once you have researched Infernal Pre-Igniter, your Hellions will demolish Zealots.

Zerg

  • Use Roaches against Zealots. More effective once Roaches have their movement speed upgraded.

  • Use the Fungal Growth ability of an Infestor on a Zealot; use ranged attacks from Hydralisks.

Protoss

  • Kite Zealots with an army of Stalkers.

  • Use Sentries and force-fields to separate enemy groups.

  • Have a few Colossi on hand.

Stalker

 

Armed with Particle Disruptors, the Stalker can teleport between locations, making it an excellent unit for sneak-attacks.

  • The Stalker can attack both air and ground units.

Terran

  • Research Tunneling Claws for your Roaches.

  • Use the Observer to monitor likely enemy hot spots.

Terran

  • Missile Turrets can spot Observers.

  • Use Ravens and Vikings to monitor the air space around your base.

  • Fire an EMP at a likely Observer spot to temporarily expose its position.

Zerg

  • Use Overseers for their detection capability.

  • Place some Spore Colonies around your base.

  • Form a squad of Mutalisks and an Overseer and scout the map for Observers.

  • Use Fungal Growth on your Infestor is you suspect an Observer. This will expose the position for a few seconds, allowing you to strike the Observer with another unit.

Protoss

  • Station Photon Cannons around your base.

  • Escort your own Observer with Phoenixes and scour the map.

Immortal

 

The Immortal is armed with Twin Phase Disruptors, making it an excellent unit at striking long-range targets.
